MD300 -- Introduction to Educational Technology

We will study the why of using technology from educational theory, psychology of learning, and information theory points of view. We will also study the wide range of conventional and new technologies of instruction including the use of computers in education, distance education, and multimedia technologies. Effective utilization of instructional technology in schools will focus on the systematic planning of lessons, which will include: the determination of the “relative advantage” of using technology to achieve the desired student outcomes, the appropriate selection of objectives and assessments, the design of integration strategies, the preparation of the learning environment, and the ability to evaluate and revise the lessons. We will work with a variety of production, presentation and interactive learning technologies.
